GOALS & DREAMS: When Phoebe was little she wanted to be a librarian because she liked to read so much. However, once she got to Hogwarts her dream was quickly shattered by the sultry attitude and low pay of the librarian there, Madame Greenly. Besides, her family told her that librarians weren't usually that smart and were often Squibs and that Phoebe could get a much better job with her brains and likability.
Nowadays, Phoebe still likes learning and knowledge and would like to travel all over the world before settling into a job, but her family is pressuring her to get employed now. Phoebe's preferred job is working for the Ministry (though it's corrupt now, so she's rethinking that part) and establishing foreign connections abroad with other Ministries and countries without their own Ministries of Magic. At the moment though, she's more focused on the war and the resistance than getting a job.
FEARS: One of Phoebe's overall fears is animals. She hates them with a passion and doesn't see why anyone would ever want to keep any in their homes. This fear probably came from when she was younger and an owl bit her. Phoebe also hates being in crowded areas, though she'll tolerate them if necessary.
STRENGTHS: Phoebe is a very smart girl and she loves to learn. She's also good at problem solving and she's an exceptionally loyal friend to those who will work their way into her heart, as well as being respectful and polite to those she feels need it. She is always kind to older people because she respects their wisdom.
WEAKNESSES: Phoebe is a very pessimistic person. She doesn't have much patience with other people, either, and isn't easily impressed. Sometimes Phoebe can come off as sarcastic and unsociable as well, especially when dealing with incompetent or unlearned people.

HISTORY: When Phoebe was born it was very hot. Her poor mother, already quite warm from, well, being pregnant, did not appreciate England's mid-August heat wave. And to top it all off, her baby was two weeks late! So it came as no surprise to anyone that when Sally-Anne Perks began feeling contractions she let out a yell of joy and side-along Apparated with her husband as quickly as she could to the nearest Wizarding hospital. Still, the baby hadn't seemed to get over its reluctance to come into the world, and poor Sally-Anne was in labor for almost 20 hours.
But it seemed that their new baby girl was well worth the wait, as she was a very precocious child and often entertained dinner guests by reading, memorizing, and reciting a very large spell book at the age of two. The Cattermoles encouraged knowledge of all kinds and it was through reading stories about Voldemort and the Death Eaters in history books that Phoebe's natural pessimism grew. Her parents also liked discussing politics and other places, and every year they would take family vacations to exotic, far off lands. Growing up in this family, it was hard not to like to travel.
When Phoebe turned three she was blessed with a little brother. At first, she was unsure about him and was almost certain all babies did was stink and eat and cause ruckus. However, after reluctantly giving her little brother a try - and the next brother that was born soon after - Phoebe and her brothers were inseparable. Though they never were quite as knowledgeable and learned as she, Phoebe would often patiently teach them all she knew about magic. In fact, the only times she would be patient were those when she was with her brothers. They brought out a maternal side to her that no one had ever seen before.
By the time it came for Phoebe to go to Hogwarts, she was ecstatic. Though she already knew much about magic, there was still so much to learn; and plus, she had never really met any other young witches or wizards. At first, Phoebe was confused as to why she hadn't made so many friends immediately. She hadn't really expected too many, but thought that even she might acquire a few. But, as aforementioned, Phoebe was a bright child and quickly discovered that maybe, just maybe, her pessimistic attitude and impatient manner might be turning people off. So she tried to be on her very best behavior, and while Phoebe never became popular, she did make some good friends throughout her Hogwarts years.
After she graduated, Phoebe's plans were all set to spend a year traveling the world. She had the money, reservations, and connections, and there was only one bit missing to her plans - her parents' approval. Though they both encouraged learning and traveling, Sally-Anne and Alfred felt that a year was a little excessive and that she would do better earning her own money first. And while Phoebe had one foot out the door, in the end it were her brothers who convinced her to stay. It was, after all, a time of almost certain war and she felt that she should try to protect them. So, with much reluctance and dragging of feet, Phoebe went off to apply for a job at Gringott's. She was immediately hired and began her desk job the next day. It wasn't horrible work and she got good pay, but still Phoebe wished - and still wishes - that she could get a job with more trips.
At the age of 20 Phoebe moved out of her parents' house. While free, it wasn't really convenient to her job and besides, she was a grown woman now! So Phoebe rented an apartment in Diagon Alley and, though it stank of old milk and she promised she would get out of there as soon as she found a better place, Phoebe has been living there since.

ROLEPLAY SAMPLE:
Somebody was knocking on the door. A very loud somebody. Merlin, couldn't they wait until store hours? It was only - Lavender rolled over in her bed - 9:07. They didn't open for another hour or so. Seeing as her roommate, Parvati Patil, was still unconscious, the grumpy co-owner of Cosmos and Candles forced herself out of bed.
She checked to make sure that her hair was alright, and that she wasn't just in her bra or anything. Then, sleepily Lavender Brown stumbled down the stairs to the main part of the shop. The sounds, she had been almost certain, had come from behind the shop in the alley. That was where all the deliveries were made on weekends, though Lavender couldn't grasp why they didn't just send an owl. Perhaps it was those new crystal balls she had ordered a week ago.. or maybe the Beginning Your Search for the Future books by none other than Sybil Trelawney had come in. She was doing a book signing in a week, Lavender remembered. Ugh.
"Hello?" Her voice, as it hadn't been used at all yet that day, was a little rusty. She cleared her throat and tried again. "Hello?" There was a delivery man with a huge package standing at the back door, looking a little nervous. Oh, god, did she drool on herself again last night? Her cleared his throat and looked down at his clipboard. Lavender spotted Parvati's and her names come up to the top of his extensive list, and he nodded. "Good morning, Parvati? Or is it Lavender?" Her nod echoed his.
"Lavender. And what are those..?" They were wasting valuable sleeping time.. she would have just grabbed the box if he wasn't so good looking. "Allspice smelling salts, ma'am." Lavender had never been called ma'am before. "I ordered ginger smelling salts, not allspice!" She complained, tilting the clipboard to look at it herself. The words 'Allspice smelling salts' danced around in black ink next to her shop's name. "I'm sorry, you'll have to return these." Lavender tried to look sweet when she smiled, but it probably just looked hostile.
"No, I'm sorry. I have specific instructions. No returns. And besides, I'm not the man to complain to anyways.." Lavender glared at him, grabbed the box, and slammed the door shut. "VATIIIIIII. PARVATI PATIL. GET.DOWN.HERE.RIGHT.NOW." It figured that she really had to pee, too.

ANYTHING ELSE?: deja vu, man.
