Ever since arriving back in town a few days ago, Mireille had been dreading her unavoidable trip to the post office to collect her mail. After being gone for nearly three years, she could only imagine the state of it, let alone all the mail they would have on hold for her. When she opened the box, however, she saw only a few envelopes and a note saying she had more mail at the desk. It appeared someone had sent her a package.
Mireille was unable to help being somewhat relieved at the fact she would not have to apparate all of her mail back to her home, but she couldn't disguise the disappointment she felt when her 'additional mail' appeared to have been nothing more than a magazine subscription she had apparently forgotten to cancel. No actual mail. Nothing more than bills and a few errant notices here and there.
She had no one but herself to blame, she knew, but still ... had anyone missed her while she was gone? She had always assumed, and maybe that was her folly, that disappearing without word for a few years might have sparked some sort of attempt to get a hold of her. No one had done so in Egypt, she had hoped maybe there was something here in England.
"Oh well, come on Miri..." She said to herself, shaking her head as she threw away the last bits of junk mail (which was the bulk of what she carried). "You were the one who threw it all away like it didn't matter, remember?" She told herself. She supposed she was thankful, in a way. At least she hadn't fun into an overbearing, overly curious relative ... yet.
